After three seasons with Jacksonville, the Jaguars traded Christian Kirk in the 2025 offseason. He stayed at AFC South and is part of the Texans roster.
The 28-year-old WR played in eight games for Jacksonville in 2024, making his seven starts. Kirk had a broken collarbone and had season-end surgery. He has recovered well this offseason and is set to become Houston’s WR2 in 2025. However, League Insider reports that Kirk suffered from a tense hamstring. ESPN’s Adam Shefter said Christian Kirk is expected to miss week one and the Rams.
Houston probably won’t have Christian Kirk in week one
Texans WR Christian Kirk has at least Sunday’s Opener vs. Rams, and perhaps longer, a tense hamstring expected to put him aside by sauce. One source estimated that was a two-week injury for Kirk, but the Texans would be “cautious” with him. pic.twitter.com/2nkyfguhi8

In 2024, several Texan WRs suffered season-ending injuries. Stefon Diggs tore the ACL last year and didn’t re-sign with Houston. Diggs is a member of New England Patriots in 2025. Additionally, WR Tank Dell suffered a catastrophic knee injury in 2024. He is planning to miss the entire 2025 season. So the Texans went out and traded for former second pick Christian Kirk.
Crick was with the Jacksonville Jaguars last year and played eight career ring games. The 28-year-old suffered from a broken collarbone in his 8th week. This offseason, Crick bouncing off his injuries and played the role of starting the year with Houston. That all changed when NFL insiders reported that Kirk suffered from a tense hamstring.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Kirk is expected to miss Week 1 and the Los Angeles Rams. A source told Shefater that the hamstring injury would allow Kirk to miss at least two weeks, if not two weeks. With Kirk out, the doors remain wide open for the two new WRs to step up and be productive. In the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Texans selected Jaden Higgins from Iowa.
Higgins is an impressive athlete and showed off those skills at the 2025 Scouting Combine. So the 22-year-old was the top 35 pick in the NFL draft. Additionally, the Texans chose Jaylin Noel from Iowa using a third round pick. Higgins and Noel were teammates for two seasons in the Cyclone. Currently, they are both on the Texans’ active roster and have the opportunity to impact week one along with Christian Kirkout. Houston is on his path to playing the Rams.
