ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The former political candidate was sentenced to 80 years in federal prison on Wednesday for convictions in a series of drive-by shootings in state and local lawmakers’ homes in the aftermath of the 2020 election. Earlier this year, the ju judge convicted former Republican candidate Solomon Peña in December 2022 and January 2023 Democrats in Albuquerque in December 2022 and January 2023 with former Republican candidate Solomon Peña in conspiracy, weapons and other charges in the shooting, including current state lawmakers. Prosecutors who sentenced him to 90 years in prison said Peña had no regrets and wanted to cause political change by terrorizing those who held opposing views to him as if they were too afraid to take part in political life.
