After a fascinating group stage competition in the 2024 T20 World Cup, the focus will now turn to the stages of the Super 8 tournament. Notably, six of the eight teams have been confirmed for the next round where the teams will again be divided into two groups. India has so far been placed in Group 1 alongside Australia and Afghanistan. The last place will go to the second-placed team in Group D, which could be Bangladesh or the Netherlands.
Group 2, on the other hand, includes co-hosts USA and the West Indies and South Africa. The last place will go to the second-placed team in Group B, which could be England or Scotland. India will begin their Super 8 campaign against Afghanistan on Thursday, June 20 at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.
The team led by Rashid Khan is doing brilliantly in the ongoing tournament, winning all three matches so far. Afghanistan thrashed Up-to-date Zealand by a huge margin of 84 runs which became the main reason for their expulsion from the tournament.
They will carry their luxurious form into the Super 8 and will be looking to continue their winning streak by beating India in their first Super 8 match. Rashid Khan and his men are hoping to record a historic first-ever win over India after losing seven of the eight T20I matches played between the two teams , and one ended without a result. The Men in Blue will next face either Bangladesh or the Netherlands on Saturday, June 22 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua.
