Following four seasons with the Steelers, Najee Harris has become an unlimited free agent. The 27-year-old had not received long-term deals. Instead, he signed a one-year $5.25 million contract with the charger.
The NFL training camp will begin at the end of July. Before that, players are on vacation and preparing for upcoming battles for the NFL season. Last Friday was July 4th, with a reportedly minor accident with Chargers RB Najee Harris. He suffered a superficial eye injury from a fireworks injury on July 4th. However, his agent Doug Hendrickson is expected to see Harris ready for the start of 2025.

Fireworks are a national annual tradition on July 4th. It’s time for the family to sit down and enjoy the night sky in vibrant colors. Fireworks can be a risk of injury, which can be a dangerous process. That’s what happened to Steelers’ Nagie Harris last week. An NFL insider reported that fireworks were in tragedy and charger RB Najee Harris suffered a superficial eye injury.
Harris’ agent Doug Hendrickson noted that “several participants” were injured. One man went to the hospital after losing his finger. Harris was very fortunate that nothing big happened to him. NFL fans can remember the incident between the former Giants and Buccaneers de Jason Pierre Paul from 2015. He lost 2.5 fingers to a dangerous fireworks injury.
Statement from Agent Doug Hendrickson of his client Chargers RB Najee Harris: “Najee Harris attended the event on July 4th, where a fireworks calamity was injured by several participants.

Luckily, Pierre Paul managed to overcome a hand injury and played for another seven years. Los Angeles was incredibly lucky that Nagie Harris was not seriously injured. It may have put his 2025 season in danger. He is a veteran RB in chargers. In each of his first four seasons with the Steelers, Harris rushed for at least 1,000 yards.
The Chargers have not had a 1,000-yard rush since Melvin Gordon in 2017. See how LA is dependent on Harris in 2025. They used first round draft capital to select Omarine Hampton from North Carolina. When a team uses the first round pick in the RB, that means they are trying to make a difference. Najee Harris was able to start the season as a starter for LA, but Omarion Hampton knocks on the door.
