The Philadelphia Eagles’ signature “Tash Push” play remains legal in the NFL after voting among team owners on Wednesday.
This decision is surprising to some as it was expected that the owners would vote heavily in favor of outlawing the play.
The proposal was first proposed by the Green Bay Packers in early April. Because of rugby-like qualities, Tash Push claims that it does not belong to soccer.
The NFL Competition and Safety Committee recommended that the league ban play, but the shock turnarounds could not be any further different.
For the ban to progress, 24 of the league’s 32 teams must vote in favor of it, and ultimately there is a two shortage of projects.

What is a tash push?
If a team needs less than yards to get a first down or touchdown, a tash push is usually a play call, sometimes known as a quarterback sneak.
This play includes a quarterback standing behind center, who snaps the ball to him. Multiple players will be positioned behind the quarterback and push him onto the defensive line.
It’s usually the running back and tight ends who line up behind the quarterback and push him through. It has a very high success rate and the Eagles are a team that has mastered crafting.
Last year there was a change in the rules that slightly changed the play. Players pushing the quarterback were at least one yard behind to stop pushing in immediately after a snap, at a higher risk of injury.
Why are the Eagles so effective with a tash push?
The Eagles are good at pushing tash thanks to their personnel. A fully-powered, agile quarterback, Jalen Hurts weighs an incredible 365 pounds at 332 pounds and tackles left guard Landon Dickerson to the left.
Philadelphia has run quarterbacks 122 times in a one-yard to go scenario since 2022. During that period, Nick Siliani’s team scored 30 touchdowns and scored their first down of 105.
The Eagles were 39 out of 48, but in 2024 they either touchdown or first down a tash push.
