WhatsApp is working on a feature that will allow users to set a default theme by changing the color of the chat bubbles in the app on their smartphone. The modern personalization option can offer a selection of preset color settings and has been spotted in development by the feature tracker in the latest beta version of the iPhone app. The Meta-owned messaging app recently updated its app’s color scheme for iOS users, adopting green accents for various elements such as buttons and notification counters.
WhatsApp default chat theme feature detected
In the latest beta version of WhatsApp for iOS 24.11.10.70, which is rolled out to users through Apple’s TestFlight testing program, the WABetaInfo feature tracker mottled modern Default chat theme a feature that is currently in development. This means that this feature cannot be enabled at this time, but should be available for beta testers to try at a later date.
WhatsApp default chat theme feature: How it works
According to a screenshot shared by the feature tracker, WhatsApp is working on a modern in-app chat theme selector that will be available in the settings menu. Users can choose from five options – the default green theme, as well as blue, gray, red and purple.
The leaked image also contains a snippet of text informing the user that selecting one of the chat themes will set the color and wallpaper – with a corresponding WhatsApp doodle background – for the chats on their phone.
Unlike Instagram, setting a chat theme will only apply to the same phone. This means that Default chat theme the setting does not modify the chat theme for both users – unlike Instagram, which allows users to assign conversation themes for each chat.
This modern chat theme selector is expected to be made available to iOS beta testers in the future before it arrives in the stable version. Since most of the features are shared between WhatsApp for iOS and Android, we can expect this feature to come to the Android version of the app in the future.
