Lockheed Martin defines Donald Trump’s $175 billion Golden Dome as “a layered defense shield that protects America’s homeland with unwavering accuracy and ensures America’s safety and resilience.”

One of the world’s largest companies in the aerospace, military support, security and technology industries, the US Aerospace and Defense Company continues explanation“The American Golden Dome is an innovative concept that promotes the goal of peace through its strength to stop the enemy from attacks in his homeland and President Trump’s vision.”

The company added, “Next-generation Defense Shields identify incoming projectiles, calculate trajectories, destroy interceptor missiles during flight, protect their homelands and project America’s strength.”

Tuesday, Trump announcement The ambitious program he said aims to deter threats from China and Russia and should be fully operational by the end of his term in January 2029. Partly inspired by the Israeli iron dome, the dome was proposed by Ronald Reagan in 1985.

Earlier this month, the US Congressional Budget Office estimated that the Golden Dome would cost up to $831 billion over 20 years.

The rising costs come in part from the number of satellites needed to cover and protect the entire United States. It has been reported.

“Time to change the equation”

General Michael Gutrain, deputy director of space operations, will lead his efforts as “the Golden Dome direct reporting program manager,” Trump said.

Guetlein warned that the US “can “construct ballistic missiles that can rapidly modernize nuclear forces, host multiple warheads, attack the US within an hour, and build polar missiles that can travel 6,000 miles per hour.”

He emphasized, “It’s time we start to change that equation and double the protection of our hometown.”

The United States considers Russia, China, Iran and North Korea to be their enemies.

Canada wants

Canada wants to be part of the initiative as a partner at North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) in the United States, Trump said. “Canada has called us, and they want to be a part of it,” Trump said. “So we talk to them. They want to have protection, so as always, we will do our best that Canada can.”

Canadian Prime Minister Marquise Carney said “high-level” talks have already been held with the US on participation in the space defense system.

“It’s something we’re seeing and it was discussed at a high level,” Carney told reporters Wednesday. “We are aware that we have the ability to complete the Golden Dome in investment and partnerships, if so.”

China’s arms race concerns

China denounced the program as a threat to strategic balance, citing US concerns about the arms race and urged its development to abandon its development.

Mao Zedong, a spokesman for China’s Foreign Ministry, told reporters at a briefing Wednesday that Goldendom “will turn space into a war zone, create space weapons, and increase the risk of shaking international security and weapons management systems.”

Mao said the shield violated the principle of “peaceful use in space treaties,” and referred to the 1967 agreement, banning the use of nuclear weapons in space, among other things, and restricting the use of all “celestial bodies” for peaceful purposes.

“China is extremely concerned. We urge the US to abandon the development and deployment of global anti-missile systems, strengthen strategic trust with major countries, and take concrete action to maintain global strategic stability,” Mao said.

Russia’s modest reaction

“This is a sovereignty issue for the United States. If the United States believes there is a missile threat, of course a missile defense system will be developed,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

“That’s what every country does,” he said, adding that the situation will ultimately require updated contacts to “restore strategic stability.”
