After a 4-13 record in 2023, the commander scored the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Washington drafted the Heisman Trophy winner from Jaden Daniels’ LSU.
He led the commander to a 12-5 record in his rookie season, helping the team reach the NFC Championship Game. By doing so, Daniels was named the AP Offensive Blue Key of the Year. Recently, the 24-year-old was asked if there was any difference in the Kliff Kingsbury system heading into his second season. Daniels said it was “day and daytime.”
Will Jaden Daniels be able to make another leap in his second year after a successful rookie season?

Heading into his second professional season, Jaden Daniels is familiar with Washington’s offense. The previous second overall pick showed a total of 32 touchdowns and a total offense of over 4,400 yards. At a press conference Thursday morning, Jaden Daniels was asked if there was a big difference in his second year. Daniels said the difference is “day and daytime.” He used Kliff Kingsbury’s offense to explain how he feels he’s heading more comfortable towards his second season.
Daniels understands what Kingsbury wants to achieve with crime, which has led to early success. Additionally, he said he has different protections to help himself as a QB. Do it slide protection or check for correct running play? As a rookie, Daniels began all 17 games for the Commander. He finished with over 200 passing yards in 13 of these contests.

Jaden Daniels says he’s handling the offense at a faster level towards his second season. That could lead to more success for Daniels and the Commander in 2025. Veteran RB Austin Ekeller said Daniels has become a better leader because he is used to offense. During recent practice, Daniels kicked someone out of the huddle after making the wrong start. There is a lot of pressure that comes with being a starting QB in the NFL. Daniels handled very well as a rookie. There are high expectations for the 2024 AP Offensive Rookie of the Year.
