On Monday night, the Minnesota Vikings will play their first game of the 2025 season. They are on the road for NFC North Matchup vs Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears.
This will be the first start of JJ McCarthy, the first round pick of 2024. The 22-year-old may not be able to start his left tackle in week one. Christian Darrisso is still recovering from the tears of the ACL that he suffered in the eighth week of 2024. NFL insider Ian Rapoport said it is doubtful that Darisaw will play for the Bears on Monday.

For the 23rd overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Vikings chose Christian Darrisaw from Virginia Tech. Over four seasons, Darrisaw played in 48 games and started at 46. Unfortunately, the young LT suffered from a torn ACL in the 8th week of 2024 and underwent season-ending surgery. Heading into the 2025 season, Darisso recovered well for the Vikings. However, the team is not sure if the 26-year-old will be available in week one.
He was a full participant at Friday’s practice ahead of his matchup with the Bears on Monday night. Christian Darisso was listed as suspicious in Minnesota’s first game. NFL insider Ian Rapoport predicts he will be paying attention to Darisaw as the Viking is in its first week.

It may be a more gaming time for Minnesota LT than on Monday evening. Christian Darissault is a player who appreciates the value of the Vikings. During the 2024 offseason, Darrisso signed a four-year, $104 million extension, guaranteed $67 million. Darrisaw has been signed with the team throughout the 2029 season. On the Minnesota Depth Chart, Justin Squall is listed as a backup LT.
Skule became Minnesota swing tackle this offseason. If Christian Darisso is forced to miss the first week, expect to see Skule in the starting lineup. Justin Scowl has been in Tampa Bay for each of the last three seasons. He played 35 games and started three times. Viking fans want Christian Darisaw to be available in week one. But it’s a 17-game regular season and Minnesota wants to have him for a long time. Darrisso is doubtful to play on Monday night against Chicago.
