Energy Secretary Chris Wright vows that the Department of Energy (DOE) will continue to use its authority under the federal power laws of that century to enable the country’s electricity grid to rapidly expand demand from data centers and the use of artificial intelligence to stall planned retirements of up to 54 fossil fuel power plants by 2028.
“We are stopping all these plants from closing before our retirement date,” he told President Donald Trump and fellow cabinet members at the White House meeting on August 26th.
