The United States is considering anti-terrorism sanctions and involvement of the Pentagon as part of a plan to force the Nigerian government to do more to protect Christians from persecution, a senior State Department official said on November 20.
Jonathan Pratt, who heads the Office of African Affairs, outlined the plan during a hearing before the House Foreign Affairs Committee, highlighting President Donald Trump’s recent redesignation of Nigeria as a country of special concern (CPC) due to widespread violence against Christians and the alleged killing of Christians in Africa.
