President Donald Trump on Dec. 7 asked the Supreme Court to uphold the tariff program, saying his decision to use emergency economic powers would undermine national security, but also said there were alternative legal means to keep the tariffs in place.
In a Dec. 7 post on Truth Social, President Trump said the tariff regime currently before the Supreme Court is “much more direct, much less cumbersome, and much more expeditious” than other methods available under U.S. law.
