ZURICH, Switzerland—President Donald Trump said on January 22 that he rejected a proposal to allow Americans to withdraw money from their 401(k) accounts for a down payment on a home. He said retirement funds generally perform better than the housing market, and individuals prefer to keep their savings in 401(k)s.
“I’m not a big fan of this proposal,” Trump told reporters on Air Force One on his way back to Washington from Davos.
