Polling for the fifth phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 was held in Maharashtra on May 20. Apart from common people, many celebrities participated enthusiastically on this great celebration of democracy. All the stars including Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan reached the polling booths and exercised their right to vote. Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor, who is currently busy shooting for Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayan’, also voted, but his wife and Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt was not seen with him. Then the debate over Alia Bhatt’s citizenship broke out again.
Alia does not have Indian citizenship
For the uninitiated, Alia Bhatt does not have Indian citizenship. The actor has British citizenship. Amidst the social media debate, Alia Bhatt shared a cryptic post on Instagram. Although this post does not comment on non-voting and her citizenship, it is still believed that Alia’s post is a response to the debate on her non-voting.
What did Alia Bhatt write?
Alia wrote on her Instagram story, “Love. No such argument, no matter how mighty, can defeat this word.” Apart from this, Alia also added the hashtag ‘Good Word’. This post of the actress is becoming more and more viral. Screenshots of the actress’ post are very popular. Recall that during the promotion of her first Hollywood film “Heart of Stone”, Alia Bhatt revealed that she has British citizenship and does not have an Indian passport.
However, this is not the first time that Alia Bhatt has been trolled online for not having an Indian passport. According to trolls, even during the last Lok Sabha elections and the Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha elections, Alia did not cast her vote and was ridiculed for not being a Hindu.
