According to reports, the OpenAI ChatGPT search engine will be launched on Monday. Oh, and it happens to be the day before Google’s flagship developer conference.
Initially it was thought that the premiere would take place on May 9 or sometime this week, now the rival of the Google search engine is expected on May 13 – just earlier Google I/OAccording to Reuters.
What can ChatGPT search engine be like?
The ChatGPT search engine may look like an existing Google experiment called SGE (Search Generative Experience), which provides chatbot responses at the top of the search page followed by a time-honored list of links. SGE is still on the testing ground, although it is quietly creeping into non-testers’ queries.
The original ChatGPT is already considered an alternative to the search engine. The current knowledge cut-off date is May 2023, making it a useful source of general information in a conversational chat interface. For a compact time, ChatGPT was connected to the Internet through Microsoft Bing integration, but that was it off because the chatbot was able to bypass paid content.
This, as well as the constant battle between publishers and OpenAI to remove their stories without credit or compensation, has made ChatGPT’s position as an aggregator of newsworthy information controversial. Currently, OpenAI deals with lawsuits from Up-to-date York Times and other news websites in connection with plagiarism and copyright infringement, while signing license agreements with Axel Springer, Financial Times.and Dotdash Meredith to operate their content to train artificial intelligence models and extract information from their sites.
Other sites have simply blocked OpenAI from crawling their sites for content that feeds the company’s AI models.
It is unclear how the ongoing licensing disputes will affect the ChatGPT search engine – which is ostensibly aimed at revealing information in real time. What Is it is clear that OpenAI is attacking Google directly. If you live under a rock with no internet access, Google completely dominates the search engine market. The ChatGPT search engine would be a direct attempt to compete with Google search.
Microsoft’s AI-powered Bing search engine (now renamed Copilot) it didn’t really make any impression in Google’s dominance in the search market. But that doesn’t stop others from trying to claim Google’s crown. Perplexity AI founded by former OpenAI and Google employees is a search engine using and currently owns the LLM collection Valued at $1 billion. So the OpenAI search engine would be competing with the ancient guard and recent startups warm on its heels.
Step one is to outshine Google at your own party.
