The Korean EV6 market is already in the glow of changes suspected from the teaser photos. As usual with these lifecycle updates, it’s the novel front fascia that’s most impressive. The standard headlights were ditched, replaced with “Star Map” lighting, creating a polygonal pattern around the exaggerated front bumper and adding an illuminated crossbar. Smaller changes at the rear include complementary lighting on the full-width lightweight bar and novel diffuser shapes that distinguish the GT-Line from lower trim levels. Modern geometric black and silver wheels for this market, in 19 or 20 inches, bring the EV6’s appearance closer to Kia’s growing range of novel electric vehicles.
Inside, the reshaped instrument panel adopts a spotless rectangular shape. The transverse steering wheel on non-GT versions has lines that curve upwards instead of downwards, and looks especially nice in its two-tone finish. Here too, GT-Line focuses on greater diversity by equipping them with a three-spoke steering wheel. Elsewhere in the cabin, there’s a redesigned wireless charging pad that holds phones more securely, a digital rearview mirror, novel ambient lighting with “energetic graphics,” wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Kia Digital Key 2 compatibility and a fingerprint sensor. a keyless authentication layer that allows owners to start their car.
For comfort, Kia engineers increased body stiffness by adding a thicker B-pillar, added more soundproofing around the rear engine and adjusted damper tuning. For safety, there are 10 airbags in the passenger cabins. Additionally, over-the-air updates can update vehicle control systems, not just navigation.
As expected, the battery has been upgraded from 77.4 kWh to 84.0 kWh. The 350 kW quick charging function can replenish the charge from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes. When Hyundai made this change in the latest Ioniq 5, the range increased by 20 miles. We’re not sure how the EV6 will fare in the market Environmental Protection Agency cycle, but in Korea the crossover gains 19 kilometers of range. Debut on our market soon; we believe it is shown here as a 2025 model.
