Join the TZR editors for Main press, a series dedicated to sharing the beauty products we love – whether they’re bold, effective, or just plain fun – that make our week just a little bit better. Ahead, Team TZR presents its favorite spring pedicure colors moment.
It’s good to have options until you find yourself facing a nail polish wall at your favorite salon. The huge number of brands, each with its own set of shades and different finishes, makes choosing your next manicure color a time-consuming decision. The equation gets trickier as the weather warms up and you also have to choose your toe color. When in doubt, the best spring pedicure colors will complement any sandal look – as well as the shade on your nails.
If you don’t know where to start, TZR editors have some suggestions. As a group that takes pedicures and sandal combos very seriously, the shades that have made our picks as seasonal staples range from tranquil, luxurious pure white to cheerful coral and everything in between. Whatever color you choose, don’t forget to seal it with a top coat if you’re doing your nails yourself – this will keep your pedicure shiny and chip-free for days.
Ahead, the TZR team shares their favorite spring pedicure colors to kick off open-toe season.
“Milky, dewy white nail polish reminds me of warmer days when I can finally wear open-toed shoes and tuck away bulky boots. Finding one with the right transparency and pigmentation takes some trial and error, but I found my favorite in The Manicurist’s Milky White green nail polish. – Kathy Lee, TZR editor-in-chief
“I’m obsessed with all things buttery this spring. It’s the perfect, almost neutral shade – best when you’re tired of airy pink and nude, but still don’t want something too saturated. Even when the weather is gloomy and rainy, I know this shade will bring some sunshine into my day.” – Maggie Haddad, senior strategist, social media, TZR
“When it comes to pedicure colors for spring, I reach for shades that are bold, radiant and a little unexpected – and Veggie Ruth Polish in a airy green shade is one of the above. I have a powerful feeling that the entire bottle will be used up by fall.” — Kelsey Stewart, deputy fashion editor, TZR
“By the time it gets heated enough for a spring pedicure, I’m usually ready to quickly transition into summer. I can’t make the calendar move faster, but I can get into the transitional spirit of the season with a dynamic orange pedicure – this one is my favorite NO-Halloween (which can be challenging to find without a neon shade), has just enough reddish warmth to really capture the expected energy for the beach days ahead. And as a bonus, it makes me look more tanned.” – Amanda Ross, beauty editor, TZR
“JINsoon’s Not Quite White and Not Quite Beige Milky Cream Nail Polish is my go-to shade when I’m in the mood for a neutral pedicure because I like that it’s pliable and not too zingy. Since I get pedicures less frequently than manicures, I can’t get enough of seeing this color on my toes, and it matches virtually any shade I paint my toes with. Besides, I don’t know what magic is in JINsoon polishes, but I swear they last longer than any other brand.” — Erin Lukas, deputy beauty editor, TZR
“When the weather gets warmer, I immediately switch to softer nail colors on both my hands and fingers. The most popular shade I wear every year is Put It In Neutral by OPI. It is a attractive, completely covering pinkish shade that gives a feeling of freshness at the beginning of the modern season.” — Rebecca Iloulian, dDirector of Revenue and Newsletter Marketing, BDG
“I do not share the view that iridescent, shimmering shades are only intended for the winter season. I reserve the right to shine at any time of the year. I like the idea of wearing this shimmery shade on my fingers as it adds an unexpected glow that still feels subtle due to the sheer finish. It’s a nice, surprising alternative to established pastels and poppy colors that we reach for in spring.” —Angela Melero, editor-in-chief of TZR
“I’m not very experimental when it comes to pedicures because I’m weird about which shade of nail polish will match my current manicure and/or sandals. That’s why I usually stick to neutrals or reds. This fire engine crimson shade from Essie is perfect for spring and summer. The long-lasting formula feels fresh and shiny for days…ok, weeks, because I go far too long between pedicures than I should admit. – Luke
