It’s an odd combination when you consider that the 132-piece summer set isn’t as menacing as Sauron’s fiery fortress in Mordor, but hey, at least it’s something you can apply to distract the kids while you focus on building your own shadowy tower.
If you need a refresher, the latest Lego product Lord of the Rings the set consists of 5,471 elements which, when assembled, represent the black tower and the fiery eye of Sauron, which remain one of the most iconic visuals from Peter Jackson’s film trilogy. The set is 83 cm high, but you can also buy additional pieces if you want to build it even higher. Features a pair of mechanical entrance doors, a secret room for the all-seeing palantir stone, and lots of clever Easter eggs.
Lego added many other details Lord of the Rings fans will appreciate, from the orc throne room and dining room to the lava pit with a skeletal cage. There are also references to the story itself, such as Frodo’s stolen mithril cloak and even a spider (Shelob, anyone?). The set even includes minifigures of Frodo, Sam, Gollum and, of course, Sauron, so you can recreate any scenes you want.
