If whenever I played Gran Turismoyou probably remember whatever is coming minute at the Tsukuba track he’s damn speedy. To bounce along this track little Fiat, on road-legal tires no lessin one minute and seven tenths of a second is downright unbelievable. This little lemon jelly it has a lot of firepower and sounds like a firecracker fired from a howitzer.
From the factory, the Abarth 595 Competizione weighs approximately 2,300 pounds and sends 180 horsepower to the front wheels. This one makes about 260 ponies from its little 1.4-liter, which is mega. Just look at that little yellow guy walking!

It seems unnatural for something so elevated to corner on such a flat surface, but the huge fender flares and wider track probably lend a hand enormously. It doesn’t crouch, it doesn’t roll, it barely wobbles, it just moves around the tight corners of the track like it’s a hot knife cutting through butter. The car is raucous enough that I’m not convinced the driver hasn’t figured out a way for the resonant sound waves to make the car faster in a straight line. Maybe the vibrations add a Bernoulli effect to disconnect airflow from the body or something? The world may never know.
Everyone knows that the youngest boys are often the angriest, and although most Fiat 500s are cheerful and fun, in this case everything is fine. It’s like a chihuahua that looks cute and playful from a distance, but as soon as you enter its territory, it wants to tear you apart from the ankles up. Tsukuba is the territory of this car looking for a fight. Look after yourself.
