The report states that Seetha Mahalaxmi Healthcare (SML), the company that launched the India-built Hanooman Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) platform, is planning to debut the operating system (OS).
According to a report by Vishnu Vardhan, co-founder and CEO of SML, the company plans to build a comprehensive ecosystem of AI solutions, according to a report by Moneycontrol. Vardhan said beta testing of the operating system could be announced next month, with a potential rollout occurring within three months.
“We’re working on building smaller AI models that don’t even need to run GPUs. We’re taking a detailed approach and I think this is the next massive opportunity. Hanooman needs application tools that can be easily implemented. We create these applications; as well as its operating system in the coming months. We are creating a kind of no-code platform,” Vardhan said.
The Hanooman AI platform is available in 98 languages globally, including 12 Indian languages, and is expected to reach 200 million users in the first year of launch.
“We build the operating system based on vast language models (LLM). Since LLM programs can expose user APIs, we went a step ahead and thought of building tools where anyone with a bit of knowledge can deploy agents in their company… This OS can run on good laptops. We want to move edge computing to generative AI, but we’ll have to operate laptops to do it. The implementation of chips would be costly, he added.
Why does the company want to develop an operating system
The company’s goal is to limit costly graphics processing units (GPUs) to support LLM, and the operating system is intended to be the next step in this direction. In addition to the operating system, the company is also developing enterprise-grade Miniature Language Models (SLMs) to address concerns about LLMs providing enterprise APIs.
SLMs are a cost-effective alternative to LLMs and are specially trained to perform specific tasks. They can operate with less processing power.
