Evans did not practice Wednesday or Thursday for Tampa Bay. On Friday, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that wide receiver Chris Godwin will also be out in Week 6. He is suffering from a fibula injury. The Bucks will be without their top two wideouts against San Francisco.

The Buccaneers will be without three key offensive weapons against the 49ers in Week 6. Mike Evans injured his hamstring in Week 3. He was not placed on IR and was reported to be out for 3-4 weeks. Sunday’s matchup against Tampa Bay will be Evans’ third straight game missed due to injury. Evans has 14 catches for 140 yards and one touchdown in three games.
Additionally, the Buccaneers will be without wide receiver Chris Godwin in Week 6. NFL insiders say Godwin is suffering from a fibula injury. Chris Godwin, 29, dislocated his ankle in Week 7 of 2024 and underwent offseason surgery. As a result, Chris Godwin will miss the first three games of the 2025 season. Godwin played in Weeks 4 and 5 for the Buccaneers, but is expected to miss Week 6.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be without Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, but the team is about to have a breakthrough WR. With the 19th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Bucs selected Emeka Egbuka from Ohio State University. Through five games, he leads Tampa Bay in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. The rookie sensation has 38 receptions, 445 yards, and five receiving touchdowns through 2025.
Draft analysts questioned the Bucks’ decision to select Egbuka, even though they already have two veteran wideouts. However, injuries to Mike Evans and Chris Godwin have left a clear path for Emeka Egbuka to take over. Tampa Bay’s backfield will be without the services of 2024 fourth-round pick Bucky Irving. He is suffering from a leg/shoulder injury. Backup Rathard White started for the Bucs for the second straight year.
