The 2025 BMW 2 Series is the first refresh of this generation and brings improved technology, a modern center console design and a number of other minor design tweaks.
Apart from the modern color palette, at first glance you won’t notice much modern in the external appearance of the 2 Series. The gallery above shows the modern Vegas Red Metallic option, but you can also choose from the newly selected Skyscraper Gray metallic, Frozen Pure Gray metallic and Frozen Portimao Blue II metallic. However, the most compelling of all the modern color options is the addition of Zandvoort Blue to the list, which was previously a shade exclusive to the M2. Apart from the paint, the M240i features a series of modern “M” badges spread throughout, such as on the lower front aperture and on the front fenders, as we’ve seen on other recently refreshed M-lite models. BMW says it offers several modern 19-inch wheel designs and a modern M Sport Professional package that combines a number of individual Shadowline options.
Both powertrains for the 230i and M240i remain unchanged. The base 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine still produces 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, while the M240i generates 382 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque from its 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six. Both models can be equipped with rear-wheel drive or xDrive all-wheel drive, with an eight-speed automatic transmission the only option.
The gigantic change to the BMW interior is a modern center console that integrates the brand’s latest air vent design and eliminates more buttons and controls in the cockpit. Directly above the modern stack is the updated infotainment system with iDrive 8.5, which is a gigantic upgrade over the less-than-stellar iDrive 8 software. You’ll also notice improved ambient lighting, which is designed as a waterfall of lithe over the air vents in a choice of nine colors.
Directly in front of the driver is the modern two-spoke wheel with a polygonal rim on the 230i. Opt for the M240i (or select the M Sport package on the 230i) and you’ll get a modern flat-bottom steering wheel with a red center marker at 12 o’clock, further highlighted by tri-color M stitching. A modern Tacora Red interior color joins the list of available upholstery options. Also modern are two patterns of open-pore wood finishing strips.
