The Dutch reached their target of 107 runs in 18.4 overs with Bas de Leede hitting the winning boundary. Vikram Singh scored 22 runs and Sybrand Engelbrecht scored 14 runs.
Nepal’s chances diminished after three missed catches, including a wasted opportunity by the captain Rohit Paudel dismiss O’Dowd in the 18th minute.
The Dutch bowling attack had earlier restricted Nepal to 106 players with Logan van Beek i Tim Pringle each with three goals. Paul van Meekeren and de Leede scored two goals each.
“Our bowlers were amazing up top,” Holland captain Scott Edwards said afterwards.
“All five of our bowlers were great. Ideally we would have run a little faster, but the way Max batted was great and Bassie finished it off well.
“We have to play consistent cricket throughout the tournament.”
After losing the toss and being sent to bat, Nepal struggled in damp and overcast conditions to reach 15-2 in 3.1 overs. Anil Sah was caught by van Beek off Pringle for 11 runs as Nepal reached 40-3.
“The conditions while batting were really arduous,” said Nepal captain Paudel. “Netherlands bowled really well.”
Rohit Paudel provided some resistance with a quick knock of 35 off 37 balls, but his middle order partners quickly fell. Kushal Malla, Dipendra Singh Airee and Sompal Kami were dismissed quickly, leaving Nepal with the score at 66-6 after 13.2 overs.
Once Paudel was dismissed by Pringle, the final three goals came quickly.
