The Udupi police have booked two law students who allegedly refused to produce proper documents before a traffic police sub-inspector (PSI) and also filmed their conversation with a police officer.
In his PSI report, Sudershan Doddmani said that on the evening of May 15, he saw one student riding a motorcycle without a helmet and talking on his cell phone. PSI stopped the motorcycle and demanded the student pay the fine. The student asked PSI to issue a notice to him. PSI then asked the student to provide a document containing his home address.
Shortly thereafter, a classmate of the student arrived at the scene on another motorcycle. Claiming to be law students, the two recorded the conversation with PSI on their cell phones.
Udupi police arrested students Shrivatsa and Ganesh Poojary for offenses punishable under Section. 186 (voluntarily obstructing public servant in discharge of duty) of the Indian Penal Code.
