SRH qualified for the play-offs in second place after winning against PBKS in the Indian Premier League on Sunday, May 19. Playing their last match of the group stage, SRH easily achieved the target of 215 runs in 5 balls at home at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. After the victory, SRH head coach Daniel Vettori delivered an inspiring speech and asked his team to stay true to their aggressive approach during the tournament.
The SRH team achieved several high results in the tournament, breaking records from previous seasons. One of the key features of this team was their dominance in the powerplay with the bat, with Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head smashing the bowlers.

In the locker room, Vettori congratulated the team on their good result in the final match and asked the team to stay true to their approach.
“A great match after a 10-day break against a team that was still ready to play. Of course, we were a bit tiny of the ball at the beginning, but our ability to come back from the deficit in the last 4 overs was amazing,” said Daniel Vettori. in a video posted by SRH on Monday, May 20.

“Abhishek and Rahul fought back to win the power play and that’s how we won most of our matches and it was special again. You have to play exceptionally well to chase these great scores,” Vettori praised the SRH batsmen.
“Nothing will change once we get into the playoffs. Take up the game, play exactly the same, stay consistent and true to our methods, so well done boys,” concluded the coach, who joined SRH in the 2024 season and made an immediate impact.
SRH will face KKR in the first stage of the playoffs in Ahmedabad. In case they lose to the top-of-the-table team, they will get a second chance against the winners of the RR vs RCB match in Chennai. SRH has won only one IPL title, that too in 2016 under David Warner.
