House Speaker Mike Johnston (R-Louisiana) said on January 6 that he does not expect the U.S. military to send troops to Venezuela following last weekend’s operation that led to the capture and arrest of former Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro.
“This is not a change of government. This is a demand for change in behavior by the government. The caretaker government is now in place and we are hopeful that they will be able to correct their behavior,” Johnson told reporters after a closed-door meeting in Parliament House.
