Nora Fatehi recently made headlines after her comments on ‘feminism’ went viral on social media. Several people and celebrities have reacted to her remarks and the latest on the list are Sonali Bendre, Jaideep Ahlawat and Shriya Pilgaonkar. In a recent interview with Janice Sequeira, the co-actors of the second season of The Broken News talked about their approach to “feminism.” First, Shriya said, “People didn’t Google the definition of feminism. Feminism is equal rights, it is not an advantage of one person. I think that unconsciously many people are already feminists, but somehow they don’t call themselves that because they think that feminism is “fighting with men.”
Sharing her thoughts on ‘feminism’, Sonali said, ‘The definition has taken on a ‘man-bashing’ connotation which many of us are not comfortable with. I don’t feel comfortable “batting at men.” We are looking for equal rights and you want equal rights, not up and down. It’s an imbalance again. What you want is balance, and either way, when the scale shifts and there’s no balance, there’s a problem.”
How did it all start?
It all started after Nora Fatehi commented on ‘feminism’ on the popular podcast The Ranveer Show. ”Feminism. I don’t believe this s—. In fact, I think feminism will completely fuck up our society… Many men have also been brainwashed in the era of feminism… if men can work on being more of a provider and protector of women, then we can focus on being more of a caregiver,” she said.
