What intrigued you about this series of Gala Film compact films?
Honestly, that was the idea, to finally be able to work in this format, with such phenomenal directors and talent. I always wanted to play a character as tough as Detective Thompson. He is a person who has risen through the ranks thanks to his intelligence and abilities comparable to a hacker named Grimm (played by series creator David Bianchi).
Was the preparation for this different from your other TV work?
Definitely. It was more like a movie set. I have to mention Bianchi right away because he really set the tone. To have a creator who is not only an author but also has many other hats on him is a true testament to their skill when they can create something like this in such a compact amount of time. From the very beginning we had direct and constant contact with David and this world. He provided us with countless resources such as stories and glossaries so that we would always stay connected to who we were playing with, and that was simply the greatest gift. Even though we had to work at warp speed, we were a well-oiled machine, consistently at the same level and there with love and passion. That’s when the magic happens!
What was the challenge you faced while creating it? RZR?
Understanding the technological aspects of the future we find ourselves in. Learning about things like blockchain, Grizone, shrewd contracts, Bitcoin, NFTs. This was all up-to-date jargon to me. So once again, I was very grateful that David felt protected and confident that I would get exactly the answers I needed.
Do you have a favorite memory from your time working on the project?
It’s tough to choose, but I really enjoyed the moments when my character was “hunting” with his team behind him. For me, as a petite person, the most fun was being able to play and practice this power with Detective Thompson. This definitely wasn’t the time to be “vulnerable” again, which is often a quality people love to immediately see in me.
What have you learned during this time? RZR Which one will you take to your next project?
I love the “Film Fam”, as I call it, that I am building. Truly great creators who are truly in it for the love of what they do and respect for what others do. People who care and want to get involved in creating art, regardless of budget. It was such a gift to meet so many emerging creators from whom I could learn while being a part of this up-to-date medium.
