Another Russian drone violated NATO airspace on Saturday, September 13th. This time, the Romanian government confirmed through Romania during an attack on Ukraine in the evening.

The incident occurred around 6:23 pm local time when two Romanian F-16 fighters detected a drone in an unmanned area in Tursea, about 20 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. The drone later disappeared from the radar, according to Romanian Ministry of Defense. This said Romanian law allows for the collapse of aircraft that are not allowed into airspace.

Russian war game about Belarus Poland border with drones, missiles and other hardware

The violation follows a similar incident three days ago when Poland shot down multiple Russian drones for violating airspace. In response to the ongoing threat, Poland deployed military aircraft and closed airports in Lublin in the eastern part of the country. Poland’s operational order said in X that measures were taken due to the risk of drone attacks in the Ukraine region bordering Poland. Along with ground-based air defense and radar systems, aircraft from Poland and Allied have been on high alert to ensure airspace security and protect citizens, particularly in areas near the threatened zone. Romanian airspace violations occur when Russian troops gather at the Belarus-Polish border in war game exercises.

The Polish Air Navigation Authority (Panza) has announced that as a temporary precaution, Lublin Airport and surrounding airspace have been closed to civil air traffic. The NATO forces remain vigilant as they monitor the situation closely and prepare to respond promptly.
