Russia deployed 165 unmanned aerial vehicles from Saturday to Sunday, launching a massive drone attack in Ukraine overnight from Saturday to Sunday, according to the Ukrainian military.

According to the provincial Emergency Services (SES), in Kiev, the attack caused a fire in which 11 people, including two children, injured.

The SES reported that the attack had affected three districts in the capital: Obolonskyi, Sviatoshynskyi and Shevchenkivskyi.

At Obolonskyi, flames destroyed the construction of a 12-storey home. Nadya, one of the residents, explained how she reacted when the attack occurred.

“When it hit, we didn’t know what to do. I was with my son. I grabbed him like this in my pyjamas, ran out here and started running away.”

Nadya said, “We saw people descending stairs and evacuating. We were all sitting here in the darkness. There was a strong fire, they had it out and they were sitting here. Two guys were injured, an ambulance came, but perhaps they were not under a lot of stress.”

Meanwhile, in Sviatoshynskyi, residential buildings were affected by fire, and in Shevchenkivskyi, local infrastructure was borne by the brunt of the attack, causing roads and utility poles to be damaged.

SES said 75 firefighters had launched an attack and deployed to tackle the flames, but all of these have disappeared.

Furthermore, the central region of Cherkassy endured the damage after Russian artillery fire.

In the town of Cherkassy, facades and windows of multi-storey buildings were destroyed, along with warehouses belonging to furniture companies, trade bases and garden structures.

One victim, Vasyl Shevchenko, spoke of the attack. “There was no whim, no noise, none. We hit so hard that the windows were blown away. Thank God we are alive.

Preliminary reports show that 10 flats were damaged during the overnight strike, two of which were completely destroyed by fire.

Emergency Services mobilized more than 100 rescuers and 26 vehicles to respond to areas affected by fire, where both homes and businesses were affected.

Regions of Kharkiv, Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk were also targeted during the overnight strike, according to the Air Forces of Ukrainian Telegram Channel.

The Ukrainian army fired down 69 Shahed drones and other items, but the 80 fell off the radar.

Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defense released footage on Sunday, claiming that Russian troops had shown Ukraine’s military status in the South Herson region.
