BJP demands apology from Rahul Gandhi
Citing the final report filed by the Telangana Police in the Rohith Vemula death case, absolving Union Minister Smriti Irani and three others, senior BJP leader Amit Malviya accused Congress president Rahul Gandhi of politicizing the incident for political purposes. Malviya asked whether the Wayanad MP would apologize to Dalits after the final report on the death of a researcher at the University of Hyderabad. Coming back to X’s official stance, the BJP’s IT cell head released a video of Rahul allegedly speaking on Rohit Vemula’s death in the Lok Sabha. In the video, Rahul can be heard questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “silence” on the matter.
“Rahul Gandhi used his voice in the House to politicize the death of Rohith Vemula for his odious politics. Now that the Congress-ruled Telangana Police has submitted its final report stating that Vemula did not belong to the SC community and died by suicide, will Rahul Gandhi apologize to Dalits? The Congress and the so-called ‘secular’ parties have often exploited Dalits for their policies but have always failed to provide them with justice. This is another case,” Malviya wrote in X.

Talking about the shutdown report, BJP spokesperson Ajay Alok alleged that the Congress had created a false narrative about Vemula’s death. Talking to ANI on Saturday, the BJP leader said, “The issue is not whether he (Rohith Vemula) was a Dalit or not. Questions should be asked of those who did not allow Parliament to function by claiming that the BJP government is anti-Dalit. They have politicized the issue and built a false narrative around it.”
