Following a 4-13 record in 2024, the Raiders have changed this offseason. Las Vegas fired head coach Antonio Pierce after two seasons. His replacement is Pete Carroll, the head coach of the Super Bowl Champion.
Speaking to the media after the mandatory minicamp, Carol made some surprising comments about his RB’s room. Despite the Raiders drafted Ashton Jeanti sixth overall, he said the team could run the committee approach. Carol said, “I don’t rely on one man.”

On the sixth pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Raiders chose Boise State RB Ashton Janti. Jeanti finished second in the Heisman Trophy poll last season, passing the most dominant RB in college football. His 374 carries and 2,601 rushing yards led the country. The 21-year-old gave 29 rushing touchdowns and was named the US in the 2024 campaign.
Despite all the admiration and production in college, Raiders head coach Pete Carroll has not committed to Jeanty as the team’s mainstay. Rather, Carol told the media he wouldn’t rely on one RB to carry his luggage in 2025. Along with Jeanty, the Raiders said they have veteran RB Raheem Mostert and Zamir White. “I love having multiple guys playing,” Pete Carroll told the media. This was true in his time with the Seahawks.
The longtime head coach said there is an opportunity for RBS on the roster to compete when they wear pads. That’s when the team evaluates who their top RB is and how they split the carry. Raheem Mostert was impressed with his rookie teammate Ashton Jeanty. He calls him a “generational talent” and believes he will become “special.” The Raiders will face New England patriots in their first week, opening the 2025 regular season on the road.
