To tackle the prices of Sky High Supermarket, politicians defend a radical plan to abolish the requirement for product labels to become Dutch. The controversial move was quickly completed with a rapid response (QR) code that provided all the details of the language shoppers preferring. He argues that the current rules are stricter than necessary, and that a multilingual approach and clever QR codes could take a small margin from the total of consumers’ weekly shopping.

The plan found favorableness to the VVD Party and economy minister Dirk Beljaarts, who share Klaver’s optimism about the information-packed QR code system. In theory, suppliers could print one label in several countries, reducing packaging costs and, if possible, reduce shop prices.
