Russian President Vladimir Putin said on May 20 that Russian gas production in the first four months of the year increased by 8%, to 246.4 billion m3.
Putin, speaking during a televised meeting of senior officials on energy issues, also said that Russian oil production fell 1.8% this year to 195.7 million tonnes, a decline mainly due to production cuts under the OPEC+ agreements. .
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, Russia’s main representative on OPEC+ mining quotas, Energy Minister Sergei Tsvilev, deputy head of the presidential administration Maxim Oreshkin and the head of the gas giant Gazprom Alexei Miller.
Miller was absent from Putin’s delegation during last week’s presidential talks in Beijing, where no additional oil and gas deals were publicly announced.
“Despite sanctions and high volatility in global and regional energy markets, the national fuel and energy convoluted is developing stably and up-to-date export areas are opening up,” Putin said during the meeting.
“And it is extremely critical and a priority for us that it reliably and fully meets national needs. “Russia’s economy is growing, its needs are growing and they are met by the fuel and energy convoluted.”
