Porsche has a stunningly costly recent track package for the 718 Cayman GT4 RS. As if the 493-horsepower track special wasn’t crazy enough already, this recent package was developed around the kit fitted to the car, which added more than six seconds to the runtime from the standard GT4 RS. professional Porsche driver, Jörg Bergmeister.
Let’s make one thing clear: the 718 GT4 RS itself is already a monster. Reaching the Nordschleife in under 7:10 is impressive in itself. But this, of course, was not enough for Porsche. In other words, the company certainly can’t handle it lose any sale by offering an even faster car, so why not do it? Cost certainly isn’t an issue for customers, who seem content to get their hands on every special, limited-edition or otherwise custom model Porsche can release. Even with a price tag of $53,946, we expect this package will have plenty of customers.
For about $15,000 less than the base price of a Porsche Macan, you get a track-oriented package that includes a revamped and fully adjustable coilover suspension with massively stiffer front springs, improved aerodynamics that nearly doubles downforce at 120 mph, and some non-flexible steel brake lines. Throw in another $5,890 and you get an additional aero package that replaces the front fender louvers and adds a larger rear knife flap to the rear spoiler, both made of bare carbon fiber. Porsche claims that the revised flap itself increases maximum rear axle downforce by another 4%.
Both American Porsche Experience Centers will offer test drives of the 718 model equipped with Manthey suspension. If you’re near Atlanta or Los Angeles and want to schedule a ride, you can register at PorscheDriving.com. Existing customers are lucky too. Porsche confirmed Autoblog that the kit can be installed on cars before or after delivery, so wherever you are on your journey to owning a GT4 RS, you can hop on the Manthey train.
