The Spyker C8 it is one of the rarest cars in the world. Even though the company was founded in 1999, it didn’t actually start producing vehicles until 2003 with the C8. Only 266 C8s have been made from ’03 until the company’s bankruptcy in 2010. If you have deep pockets, you can own one of these pretty supercars. One of them is currently for sale on the website Facebook Marketplace.
This is not just any Spyker C8, it was a copy belonging to the legendary rapper, producer and singer Missy Elliott. To emphasize the exclusivity, this particular C8 is one of only 32 Laviolettes – Spyker’s fancy term for a coupe – that came to the United States, and is also the only left-hand drive C8 in this particular color configuration. Elliott opted for a black exterior with a red interior.
The seller, who also mentions that he purchased the car directly from Elliott two years ago, says it is in perfect condition. The only modifications made to it were an aftermarket sound system that Elliott installed, hidden in the glovebox. Power for the C8 comes from a 4.2-liter Audi V8. To get all the fence followers into buying a supercar powered by an engine with notorious reliability, the seller claims it’s a newer car powered by a 4.2 engine with a timing chain, not a timing belt.
The car also received a $4,000 “comprehensive service” performed by an Atlanta-area Spyker expert, although it did not say exactly what that service would involve. All fluids were also replaced last year as the car was hardly used; the seller mentions that the C8 has only 1,500 miles on it. Not everything is perfect either.
The seller mentioned that the tire pressure monitoring system airy was on because he was “unsure what system he was using.” One of the roof glass panels has a compact crack, and there is undocumented paint work on the edge of the front hood that was discovered during an inspection of the car. But it has a neat history, no accidents. If you want a chance to own this rarity, you’ll have to part with $599,000. A lot of money, yes, but there is a reason for it. The seller wants to go hunting for flooded hypercars in Dubai. They want to trade too.
I’m selling the car because I’m going shopping for flooded hypercars in Dubai, so it’s time for another project. I will gladly accept trades that I can keep or obtain from dealer friends.
