Patriots’ Stefon Diggs had a monster Week 5 performance in his return to Buffalo

Four seasons after the bill, Stephon Diggs was traded with the Houston Texans. He signed with the Texans on a restructured one-year contract for the 2024 season. However, Diggs tore the ACL after just eight games.

Houston did not re-sign veteran WR this offseason. However, he received a three-year contract from the Patriots worth up to $69 million. In week five, New England was on the path to facing the bill. It was Stephon Diggs’ first game in Buffalo since he was traded by his team. The Diggs were off for 10 catches and 146 yards in the 23-20 Patriot victory.

On the fifth Sunday night, the 2-2 patriot was on the path to face a 4-0 bill. Buffalo has 14 home wins at the line. Plus, it was Drake May’s first primetime game in the NFL, with a young QB being delivered. He was 22-30 for 273 yards. New England took a 6-3 lead at halftime and scored both touchdowns in the second half. Rhamondre Stevenson carried the ball seven times for 14 yards and two touchdowns. He also lost one fumble.

Drake May’s top target on Sunday night was Stefon Diggs, not particularly close. He has 12 targets, and the next closest patriot has four targets. In a 23-20 victory, the Diggs scored 10 catches with 146 receiving yards. Diggs’ best performance in the 2025 season came with the teams and teams who traded him a few years ago. This is a series of Diggs games with over 100 receiving yards.

He is the first patriot recipient to achieve that feat since Julian Edelman in 2019. Drake May led New England on a drive that won his first career game on Sunday night. The second-year pro completed a ridiculous pass for 12 yards by Stefon Diggs. May was working on the Bills defender when he completed his pass to Diggs. It kept the drive moving for the patriots.

With 15 seconds left, kicker Andy Bol Ledgers nailed a 52-yard field goal to win the New England game. The team improved to 3-2 in the season and placed second in the AFC East. Stefon Diggs is proud of how Drake overcomes adversity in week 5. It wasn’t the perfect game for the Patriots, but they ultimately found a way to win. New England will be on the road in week six to play against the Saints in 1-4 New Orleans.
