NBC issued a favorable verdict regarding Night Court.
The station launched the third season of its comedy series, which is a renewal/continuation of the series with the same title from 1984–92. Night Court is the first of three current NBC comedies included in the 2024-2025 schedule; decisions on this matter have not been made yet Lopez vs. Lopez AND Multigenerational family. NBC also has one recent comedy, St. Medicine Denison tap for next season, and the pilot called Elated Place starring Reba McEntire.
Night Court in Nielsen’s seven-day linear ratings, the second season averaged 3.73 million viewers – a significant drop from its 2023 return, but still ranking as the most-watched comedy on NBC. As with most scripted shows, this one gets a significant viewership boost from streaming; NBC didn’t provide specific numbers (as is typical for streaming), but said 24 million people watched at least a few minutes of the show Night Court on all platforms this season.
Melissa Rauch stars in the series as Abby Stone, the daughter of Judge Harry Stone (Harry Anderson in the original series), who followed her dad and presided over a night court in Manhattan. John Larroquette reprises his Emmy-winning role from the previous series as lawyer Dan Fielding; India de Beaufort, Lacretta and Nyambi Nyambi also star.
The producer is Warner Bros. Television Night Court with Rauch’s After January Productions and Universal Television. Executive producers are Dan Rubin, Rauch, Winston Rauch and Larroquette.
