Nayara Energy has announced that it will invest ₹600 crore to set up ethanol production plants in India to achieve its sustainability targets.
“The company operates the largest private fuel network in the country and the establishment of ethanol production facilities will be a significant step towards achieving downward integration in the energy sector,” the statement said.
In line with the Government of India’s 2025 ethanol blending target, Nayara Energy plans to set up two ethanol plants with a capacity of 200 KLPD each in Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
The company said it has already identified and purchased land in both states for the proposed plants.
Alessandro des Dorides, CEO of Nayara Energy, said: “The establishment of ethanol production facilities will significantly enhance the reliability of our ethanol supply, playing a key role in achieving the Indian government’s 20% blending target by the end of the 2025-2026 financial year. “
“This strategic shift towards ethanol production underscores our commitment to sustainability, regulatory compliance and long-term growth in the vigorous energy sector. By expanding our presence in the ethanol segment, we aim to actively contribute to India’s renewable energy goals and support a greener future,” he added.
