Every Sunday when I wash my hair, I get my regular workout in – cutting, combing, washing, separating and blow-drying keeps my arms burning for almost three hours as I go through my weekly routine. While all of these steps are intended to ensure that my hair stays well and manageable throughout the week, I always knew there was an easier way to go from drab to gorgeous (and get to brunch faster).
There are plenty of brushes available on the market designed for blow drying. They work by using heat to simultaneously glossy and volumize your hair while you brush it. However, my hair is so broad that when I’m at my local salon, I usually need two stylists with high-powered dryers to work on it, so I’ve always been skeptical of them. However, T3 AireBrush caught my attention because it was created with broad hair in mind. Are you telling me I can achieve a salon-worthy look at home with just one tool? If this was really the case, I had to check it out for myself.
The brush has three different temperature settings assigned to hair texture categories (1 for fine hair, 2 for medium hair and 3 for curly hair). There’s also a cold setting that the instructions say is designed to “lock in your look.” T3’s director of brand and product marketing, Jen Ju, points out that in addition to the range of temperature and speed settings, “heat uniformity, brush size and SmoothGrip bristles are specifically designed to assist stretch and style curly hair.”
I comb the curls on my humid hair Hair Rules Non-foaming cleansing cream, then I detangle with a wide-toothed comb and loosely separate the hair into six sections to remove dead hair and glossy out any knots. After rinsing the cream off, I like to tie a vast rubber band or utilize a claw clip on each section before doing anything to prevent it from getting applied. more heat than necessary on the same strands. Then I connect the T3 toothbrush.
Without this handy tool, drying and styling my hair with a regular blow dryer can take up to 90 minutes, depending on how much I want glossy, frizz-free hair. I usually get tired after about 45 minutes, make sure my roots are dehydrated, and call it a day – I throw it all up in a fluffy ponytail or mentally reserve time before bed to braid my hair. However, with the T3 hairbrush, I can transform humid hair straight out of the shower into silky and straight hair in less than 35 minutes.
Just a quick towel dehydrated and then run the coils through the brush on the third heat setting. Patented EvenFlow technology maintains constant heat levels in all parts of the toothbrush, ensuring the least heat damage possible. The only downside I can think of is that there was a bit of a learning curve when it came to understanding the symbols on the handle. The settings are unusual for your standard heat styling tool and therefore not as intuitive as I would like. I had to refer to the instructions to figure out how to optimize the heat and speed settings.
Depending on the level of activity (and weather), the outbreak can last anywhere from three to seven days. If I don’t plan on going to the gym, I can last a full week, but in sweatier conditions the style will stay nice for a maximum of two to three days. I’ll be back with T3 SinglePass StyleMax flat bar if I need to freshen up the look, but most of the time I prefer to stay away from heat sources. It’s not as perfect and hard-wearing as the salon one, but for at-home maintenance and affordability, the convenience keeps me coming back to this tool most weeks.
Ultimately, styling my hair with less effort and better results is what I can expect from a high-powered brush and hair dryer hybrid product. At $150, the T3 brush is much cheaper than similar products that have gained tons of buzz online, and its compact size makes it straightforward to throw in your carry-on this summer for your next trip or special event.
Here are the products and tools I utilize in combination with the T3 AireBrush to create hairstyles at home.
