bRitish Composer Michael Nyman will be awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at Film Fest Gent’s annual Film Music Awards ceremony, the upcoming World Soundtrack Award (WSA).
Nyman is known for his BAFTA nominated score piano and His collaboration with Peter Greenaway in films such as Chef, thief, his wife and her lover and Draftman contract. His other scores include Neil Jordan The end of the incident Andrew Nickol’s Absolute.
He was awarded the award on October 16th in Ghent, where a selection of Nymann’s works will be held at the Brussels Philharmonic, conducted by Dark Blosser.
Growing up in London, Nyman studied at the Royal Academy of Music and studied King’s College London under Thurston Dirt, a specialist in piano and British baroque music. Early in his career he was a music critic SpectrumR, he famously coined the term “minimal music.”
