Meta AI is getting a huge update. On Thursday, the social media giant announced two novel Llama 3 artificial intelligence (AI) models: Llama 3 8B and 70B, which are expected to offer improved capabilities compared to its predecessor. In addition to this, the company has also updated its native AI assistant with the Llama 3 models. According to the company, Meta AI can now respond more efficiently, generate images faster, and even animate images. The accessibility of the chatbot is also improved by integrating it with various interfaces. It is also being expanded to additional countries.
In the newsroom postthe company said that Meta AI is now powered by Llama and can be used for free as long as the user has an account on any of its platforms. The social media giant announced the chatbot in Meta Connect 2023 and soon began adding it to Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp in the US. The AI assistant was recently expanded to India and now the tech giant has revealed that it is expanding it to more regions. Countries where Meta AI is being implemented include Australia, Canada, Ghana, Jamaica, Malawi, Recent Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
While the AI assistant is getting better in terms of response efficiency and image generation quality as a result of Llama 3 integration, Meta also adds novel capabilities and broader chatbot integration. In terms of features, Meta AI will now be able to generate images in real time. This means that when you start typing the prompt, you’ll see the AI generate an image. As you get better at typing and describing the image, the image will also change depending on the prompt. While this speeds up generation, it also allows users to preview the image and make changes in real time for better results.
Another novel feature is image animation. The tech giant also offers image editing capabilities. If you don’t like the generated image, you can ask the AI to make changes to it or iterate on a novel style. Moreover, users will be able to animate an image and turn it into a GIF.
Meta also makes the chatbot available across more user touchpoints. Users will now be able to find Facebook’s AI assistant below posts. A diminutive Meta AI logo will appear with some suggested questions, and the user will be able to ask questions about the topics shown in the video. It is also integrated with search on all platforms. Thanks to this, users will be able to go to the search bar on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp or Messenger and enter a question, and artificial intelligence will answer it. You can also view real-time events such as flight booking prices and stock market updates. It’s worth noting that Meta AI uses both Google and Bing to display results, but users cannot control which search engine is displayed.
Finally, the social media giant also launched a novel website, meta.ai, where users can talk to a chatbot, ask it to solve a math problem or generate content. This novel platform is probably for those who want to utilize an AI assistant but don’t want to open a social media account for it, especially in a professional setting. Users will also be able to save conversations here for future reference.
