Exclusive: Marta Bergman’s immigration drama silent run is already vying for contracts in Italy (Cineclub Internazionale), France (Destiny Films), Canada (Axia Films) and Benelux (Observer) ahead of its world premiere just announced in competition at the Cairo International Film Festival.

The Bucharest-born filmmaker’s second feature tells the story of a couple and their two-year-old daughter who illegally enter Belgium on their way to the UK and are crammed into the back of a van with other migrants. They come face-to-face with a veteran police officer tasked with tracking down smugglers, but everything changes overnight.
The French-Arabic film is produced by Belgium’s Fracas Productions and Canada’s Production des Anne Lumières.
Bergman directed several documentaries before making his feature debut. Alone at my wedding Also produced by Frakas, it was selected for ACID in Cannes 2018.
B-Rated International was founded in late 2024 by former Media One international sales and acquisitions executive Arnaud Chevallier, with a sales division in Madrid headed by Tanguy Renaud.
