About the movie
Apart from Ajay, Maidaan also stars Priyamani, who played the role of Rahim’s wife in the film. Apart from Ajay and Priyamani, Gajraj Rao and Rudranil Ghosh also played crucial roles in the film. This biopic is produced by Boney Kapoor in association with Zee Studios. All credit for the film’s music goes to Oscar winner AR Rahman. Moreover, Richa Sharma has made a comeback with the superhit song Mirzaa. Maidaan had every bit of cinema in it that deserved to be seen, but the film failed at the box office due to clashes and too many releases.
Film Review
Indian TV’s Sakshi Verma wrote in her review of the film, “Our country has been known for cricket and hockey since antique times, although there came a time when Indian football was called the ‘Brazil of Asia.’ This was only possible thanks to Syed Abdul Rahim and his team. Maidaan is a film about the immortal spirit of man and his rebellion against death. The film may seem a bit drawn out in places. For some, the exploit of Bengali may be foreign. Ajay Devgn’s Hyderabadi accent is only constrained to saying “Miyaan”. There are also too many cigarettes inside. Considering that the director wanted to show the reason for Rahim’s condition, but from the Football Federation scenes to the scenes at home in Hyderabad, the smoke could have easily been cut at several places. Despite all its flaws, ‘Maidaan’ is one of the best sports films made in India. Overall, at 3 hours and 1 minute long, it’s a solid movie and rightly deserves 3.5 stars.”
