Actor and comedian Shekhar Suman has entered a recent phase in his political career. On Tuesday, Shekhar joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of leader Vinod Tawde. He was earlier a member of the Congress party and fought in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections from Patna Sahib from Bihar on the Congress ticket, but lost to Shatrughan Sinha of the BJP. He came third in the elections. After joining the BJP on May 7, he said, “I didn’t know until yesterday that I would be sitting here today because many things in life happen consciously or unconsciously. I came here with a very positive attitude and I would like to thank God for making me come here.”

Along with Shekhar Suman, Radhika Khera, who was the spokesperson of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), also joined the BJP at the party headquarters in Novel Delhi. After joining the BJP, Khera said, “The way I was mistreated on the land of Kaushalya Mata due to being a devotee of Ram and having the darshan of Ram Lalla, I would not have been able to reach here if I had not received the protection of the BJP government, the Modi government.” Today’s Congress is not Mahatma Gandhi Congress, it is anti-Ram and anti-Hindu Congress.”
Shekhar Suman’s career in brief
Shekhar Suman is one of the most popular comedians and actors. At the peak of his career in the delayed 1990s and early 2000s, he was one of the highest-paid television actors in India. Some of his popular TV shows include Dekh Bhai Dekh, Movers n Shakers and Simply Shekhar.
For the first three seasons, he was also one of the judges of the popular reality show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. He also appeared as a judge on many seasons of Comedy Circus.
In terms of films, Shekhar has acted in almost 35 films including Utsav, Naache Mayuri, Tridev and Ranbhoomi among others.
