Liverpool FC broke its English transfer record on Monday by signing Alexander Isaac for £125 million, or about €145 million on the closing day from Newcastle United.
Swedish International signed a six-year contract, bringing Liverpool’s summer spending to around (480.6 million euros) without add-on fees.
“I think there’s a lot to me. I think there’s a lot to improve. I’m a striker, but I’m mainly trying to give as much as possible to a team that’s above the goal,” said Isaac, who will join the team as the new number nine.
“I want to win everything,” he emphasized.
The Swedish player began his career at AIK in his hometown before moving to Borussia Dortmund in 2017.
He signed with Spanish Real Sociedad in the summer of 2019 and helped the team win the 2019-20 Copa del Rey.
The deal ends a long-term transfer saga that includes weeks of behind the scenes conflict.
Reported fees broke the previous English relocation record of £107 million (€124 million) that Chelsea paid to Enzo Fernandez in 2023.
The club’s total spending will also exceed £400 million (464 million euros). This is the only time Premier League clubs have surpassed £300 million (EUR 348 million) in one transfer period.
Overall, Premier League clubs have jumped out more than ever in this transfer window, exceeding £3 billion (EUR 3.48 billion) from spending last year of £1.96 billion (EUR 2.27 billion).
