Professional networking platform LinkedIn on Thursday launched three games that are available on its mobile and desktop apps. The games – Pinpoint, Queens, and Crossclimb – are listed in the LinkedIn Messages and My Network sections. The games will be thinking-oriented, allowing users to improve their skills and test how well they can concentrate and even their mental flexibility.
Users can play each game once a day and can check their metrics after daily sessions, including high scores, daily streaks, and various leaderboards. “I’ve been testing the team’s amazing work for the past month and I can’t imagine a product that would be more fun to test. With this set of fast-paced, once-a-day thinking games – Crossclimb, Pinpoint and Queens – I start my morning from now on. “Then it’s quickly followed by a check of the rankings and a lot of messaging to my colleagues to show off my amazing — or maybe not so — results,” said Daniel Roth, editor-in-chief, vice president of the company, in a blog post.
The article briefly describes the games. Pinpoint is a word association game in which the user must guess which category five different words might fit into. Crossclimb is a trivia game with clues for each word, allowing users to create a word ladder where each subsequent word is only a letter different from the previous one. The third game, Queens, is basically like Sudoku, but without any numbers.
The post also cited the growing popularity of word games such as Wordle, which was purchased by The Recent York Times in 2022. According to estimates, the annual growth rate of these games will be 8.61%.

While LinkedIn is not yet charging for these games, the move is aimed at increasing user engagement and attracting up-to-date ones as advertising revenues decline on online platforms.
