Formula 1 reporters never ask lewis hamilton about peeing in the car. That’s the joy of seeing the 39-year-old guest on the wildly popular web show “Balmy Ones.” Leave it to host Sean Evans to bring Lewis out of his shell a little. The show is brilliant in its format because the scorching wings facilitate the interviewees moment of breaking the ice with the host and lower their defenses. Nowhere is this more evident than in Lewis hamilton’S visit to the scorching seat. His reserved and tranquil demeanor disappeared, and in its place was a cheerful and talkative Lewis. This is a great interviewand you should watch it now.

On F1 weekends, reporters ask monotonous things about tires, competitive advantage and so on. Drivers are forced to give standard “Nicburger” answers. I, for one, would love to see Ted Kravitz ask Lewis about the time he surfed with Kelly Slater. This would make F1 TV broadcasts much more fascinating. Wouldn’t you rather hear Lewis’s voice featherlight up when he talks about adopting Roscoe, his bulldog pal? That’s a lot more thrilling than asking if he’s disappointed with finishing 8th or anything else.
The long-time Mercedes driver is leaving for the Maranello horse team next season, so 2024 will be a bit of a disappointment for the 39-year-old. He has grown a lot and become an elder statesman in the sport. That’s what makes this interview so great. He no longer has to keep everything under his hat and can let go a little.
“It hurts when I breathe,” says the most successful F1 driver in history, just before returning for a second stint in the notoriously scorching sauce “Da Bomb Beyond Insanity.” You’ve got to hand it to him, he held his own and beat the hot winger’s glove with ease. Perhaps its near-immunity to scorching chutney is due in part to its Granadian heritage. I’ve never seen another Brit who could stomach anything spicier than peri peri sauce.
Spend twenty cheerful minutes with Hamilton. You may even leave the interview having learned something.
