Josh O’Connor and Cailee Spaeny will join Daniel Craig in the upcoming film Cutting knives 3 continuation, Hollywood reporter he confirmed.
Last week, writer-director Rian Johnson confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that Craig would be reprising his role as Benoit Blanc in another murder mystery film. IN 45-second video teaser video, he also revealed the title of the sequel as Wake Up Dead Man: Knife Mystery.
“The next Benoit Blanc mystery, sequel Knives out AND Glass onionIs called Wake up dead man“, director he wrote in the caption of Friday’s post.
Netflix also confirmed Craig’s return and the title of the sequel Tudum’s website after Johnson’s post.
“That’s right, Daniel Craig returns as the suave Southern investigator Wake Up Dead Man: Knife Mystery, a novel installment in the Whodunnit series written and directed by Rian Johnson. “Blanc will solve an entirely novel murder mystery in an undisclosed setting, surrounded by a colorful novel group of suspects,” the streaming giant wrote.
The director also announced on social media that work on the sequel is to begin soon.
“I love everything about crime fiction, but one of the things I love most is the malleability of the genre.” Johnson said in X before revealing the film’s title. “There is a whole tonal spectrum, from Carr to Christie, and exploring that range is one of the most invigorating things about making Benoit Blanc films.”
Wake Up Dead Man: Knife Mystery will debut on Netflix next year.
O’Connor has had a breakout role in the tennis drama Challengerswhile Spaeny recently appeared on A24 Civil War and leads Alien: Romulus, will be released on August 16. O’Connor is repped by CAA, Independent Talent Group and Johnson Shapiro. Spaeny is repped by WME, Sugar 23 and Hansen Jacobson.
