Janet Jackson and Drew Barrymore look back on their acting careers and reveal some of the iconic films they passed on.
The singer made a surprise appearance in Friday’s episode The Drew Barrymore showand in the preview clip, Jackson shared which legendary superhero she almost played.
After asking if she should star in it Motherto which she replied, “No.” Jackson added that she didn’t remember the name of the film, but she knew who got the role when she turned it down.
“It was… it’s terrible,” he said Good times said the alum. “I don’t remember the movie, but Halle Berry played Storm.” Barrymore exclaimed in response: “X Men?”
“I couldn’t because I was just starting the Janet tour,” Jackson continued. – But I think that’s what you’re confusing it with. It was not Mother“
Berry made her debut as the superhero Storm in the 2001 film, based on the Marvel comic book, and reprized the role in X2, X-Men: The Last Stand AND X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Barrymore, who can relate to Jackson because she also walked away from projects she later regretted, began recalling another huge movie she didn’t make and instead signed on to something else at the time.
“It’s very complex when you think about making a movie but end up not doing it,” she explained. “I have a lot of experiences like this. I never said it out noisy Boogie nights. There was a moment we talked about Boogie nights and I think that’s when I went and did it Forever [A Cinderella Story] and I went in a completely different direction.
While 50 first dates the actress did not reveal what role she was considered for in the 1997 film Boogie nights it eventually starred Mark Wahlberg, Julianne Moore, Burt Reynolds and Heather Graham.
The Poetic justice the star hasn’t appeared on the huge screen in over a decade, so when asked if she would be open to returning, she replied: “I definitely would.”
